About Me
As long as I can remember, I knew I wanted to be a teacher. To me becoming a teacher meant that I would have the opportunity to be and do it all. I could be a scientist, I could be a writer, I could be an athlete, and I could be as nurturing as a mother.
My journey to become a teacher began at Cleveland State Community College. There I participated in the Early Childhood Education Club, Psychology Club, and Book Club. In 2012, I received the Early Childhood Education Award and Who's Who Among America's Jr. Colleges. After Cleveland State, I went on to complete my BS in Human Development and Learning at Tennessee Wesleyan College (which is now Tennessee Wesleyan University). While attending TWC, I was the sports writer and co-editor of the school newspaper. I also spent my time working in the Student Success Center as a writing tutor. While at TWC, I did a portion of my student-teaching in Chicago. As someone who grew up in a small town, this was an eye-opening experience to me! To this day, Chicago is my favorite city to visit.
When it was nearing time to graduate, I began applying for jobs.  I applied to jobs in several different states and was willing to relocate in order to find a teaching position. Luckily, I didn't have to go too far!
Those few weeks before graduation, I went to countless interviews. One of the schools I interviewed with just happened to be Hillcrest! I started working at Hillcrest in January 2015 and have taught Reading Intervention, Kindergarten, and Pre-K. I love the community, the faculty, and all of the students here. It is a dream come true to come to work everyday and love what I do.
Currently, I live in Chattanooga with my three cats. I'm attending Western Governors University to complete a Masters in Mathematics Education.
